Quick & Easy Guide to Multiply

Welcome and Overview

What is the greatest gift you have ever received? And what would be the greatest gift you can likewise give to others? We cannot give what we don’t have.

Definitely, having a personal relationship with Jesus is the greatest gift you have ever received! This is the same gift you can extend to others that will multiply to many others!

Welcome to this Quick and Easy Self-led Guide that will change your life forever — and other lives too!

This manual is a very simple initiative by Cru to help you learn and multiply quickly through the examples and teachings of Jesus and His disciples.

This is not a complete, comprehensive training manual. But, it has the basic core curriculum for you to multiply through your small group. We want it to be very simple for you to be able to pass it on to your disciples who can also pass it on to others so that Spiritual Multiplication will take place more easily. This is all about the urgency of the Great Commission as stated in Matthew 28:18-20:

And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

We would like to emphasize that, “Nothing is learned until it is applied, evaluated and applied again in the field.” It takes faith actions on our part as God will produce the results. Are you willing to learn, take steps of faith and multiply?

Let’s do it!

How to use this Guide?

  • Make it Personal
This is a self-read guide. You can read it on your own and learn from it as you intentionally apply the principles taught in the field. The overarching principle is, “Nothing is learned until it is applied, evaluated and re-applied in the field.”

  • Meet with Your Small Group
You may use this in your small group training by reading this guide together, discussing its content, and practicing together on the how-tos. Then go out together in the field to observe, give feedback and encourage one another.

  • Train a Large Group
You may use this Manual for a full-day training, or do it more extensively. We encourage you to incorporate field time to apply the how-tos in the target areas you are reaching out. You can have all the morning sessions to go through all the “Heart” and “Movement” topics (through videos) and the rest of the afternoon for field application (campus or target area).

Jesus’ Strategy to Fulfill the Great Commission

  1. He centered around His objective to reach the world.
    Luke 19:10
For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.

  2. He called people to reach the world. He asks us to follow Him with all of our hearts.
    Luke 9:23
And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.”

Your Personal Strategy

  1. Identify your personal sphere of influence.
Who are you going to target to see more people come to Jesus?

  2. Identify the winning strategies.
What will you do to start the conversation and share the gospel with them?

Important Reminders

“Success in witnessing is simply taking the initiative to share Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit & leaving the results to God.”

“Success in Spiritual Multiplication is simply taking the initiative to win people for Christ, build them up in faith and ministry skills, and send them to do the same — win-build-send — in the power of the Holy Spirit and leaving the results to God.”

Why We Do What We Do?

Our Purpose: To Glorify God

1 Corinthians 10:31

Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

Our Priority: The Great Commission

Matthew 28:18-20

And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Our Plan: Spiritual Multiplication

2 Timothy 2:2

The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

Our Power: The Holy Spirit

Acts 1 :8

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.

Why we do what we do?

To glorify God by helping fulfill the Great Commission through Spiritual Multiplication in the power of the Holy Spirit.

WIN-BUILD-SEND Overview

The Biblical Pattern of Spiritual Multiplication

2 Timothy 2:2
And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.

Spiritual multiplication is a biblical and wise application of our call to make a strategic contribution to our urgent worldwide mission.

Spiritual multiplication is defined as winning people to Christ and building the faithful ones in such a way as to win, build and send others, spiritual generation after generation. It is building multiplying disciples.

Spiritual multiplication has a strategic, long-term impact built into it. The question is not one of having an impact, but of having a maximum impact.

The objective of our discipleship is to establish a network of multiplying disciples in a given target area/audience to ensure the saturation of that target.

  • For those who are trained, your call is clearly to a ministry of spiritual multiplication.

  • For those not yet trained, we urge you to pursue becoming a spiritual multiplier.

  1. God is calling all of us to invest our lives strategically in the most effective way. God intends for many of us to invest our lives strategically in a ministry of spiritual multiplication.

  2. A ministry of spiritual multiplication is an application of wise stewardship in light of our call to help reach the world for Christ in this generation.

  3. The strategy of spiritual multiplication involves teaching people to obey all Jesus taught to people who will do the same with others.

  4. Spiritual multiplication requires a mindset characterized by singleness of purpose, discipline and patient labor.

Important Reminder

“In order to see Spiritual Multiplication, what we do and what we have should be Simple, Transferable, Biblical and Accessible! “

Why Share?

Romans 10:11-13, "For the Scripture says, 'Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.' For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call upon him; for 'Whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved.'"

Mark 16:15, “He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

Movement

  • Pray for persons (friends, family members or neighbors) whom you want to share your testimony/gospel with

  • Share your testimony

A Closer Look at Paul's Testimony (Acts 21:37-22:21)

Paul generally divided his testimony into three parts: before, how and after.

  1. Before: He shared what he thought and did before he became a believer (Acts 22:1-5).

  2. How: Paul shared how he became a believer (Acts 22:6-11).

  3. After: Paul explained how becoming a believer changed his life (Acts 22:12-21).

What’s your three-minute testimony?

    1. Before receiving Christ?

    2. How did you receive Christ?

    3. After you receive Christ?

Why Follow Up?

The Goal of Follow-Up

A. Christ sends us out to introduce people to Him, to help them become His disciples and to teach them how to reach out to others (Matthew 28:18-20).

B. Follow-up is the beginning of a process that has two objectives:

  1. To help new believers grow to full maturity in their relationship with Christ (Philippians 3:10; Colossians 1:28,29; 2:2,3).

  2. To help new believers become what we call "multiplying disciples" (2 Timothy 2:2).

We do not just want to add more people to our group of believers ("spiritual addition"). We want to make disciples who will make disciples who will in turn make more disciples ("spiritual multiplication").

It is important to help new Christians be certain that Christ lives in them. People who do not have assurance of salvation are insecure in their relationship with God. If they are not sure of their salvation, they doubt God's love and forgiveness and live in constant doubt and recurring guilt. They do not trust God and do not grow.

As we follow up these new and even existing believers, we are helping them grow in their relationship with Christ.

God desires to have an intimate relationship with each of His children. In fact, He actively seeks your fellowship. He desires that we respond by pursuing our relationship to Him and having fellowship with Him.

It takes time to develop intimacy (closeness) in any human relationship. In the same way it takes time to develop an intimate relationship with God. David was called a "man after God's own heart," meaning he had a close, heart-to-heart relationship with God. Psalm 63 gives a vivid picture of David's deep, personal relationship with God. It was characterized by a seeking, thirsting spirit (Psalm 63:1,8).

I. David Provides a Good Biblical Example of Meeting with God (Psalm 63).

1O God, You are my God, earnestly I seek You; my soul thirsts for You, my body longs for You, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. 2I have seen You in the sanctuary and beheld Your power and Your glory. 3Because Your love is better than life, my lips will glorify You. 4I will praise You as long as I live, and in Your name I will lift up my hands. 5My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise You. 6On my bed I remember You; I think of You through the watches of the night. 7Because You are my help, I sing in the shadow of Your wings. 8My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me. 9They who seek my life will be destroyed; they will go down to the depths of the earth. 10They will be given over to the sword and become food for jackals. 11But the king will rejoice in God; all who swear by God's name will praise Him, while the mouths of liars will be silenced.

A. David responded to trials by seeking God. He wrote this Psalm (song) as a testimony of his pursuit of God and the results of his pursuit.

  1. David sought God in the desert (v.1).

  2. David sought God in the sanctuary (v.2).

  3. David sought God as the source of satisfaction (v.3-5).

  4. David sought God on his bed at night (v.6).

  5. David sought God for help and strength (v.7,8).

  6. David sought God for refuge (v.9,10).

  7. David sought God even though he was king (v.11).

B. David was fulfilled in his search.

  1. His soul thirsted (v.1) but was satisfied (v.5).

  2. He was threatened (v.9) but was protected (v.7,8,10,11).

C. David's fulfillment came as a result of his walk with God.

  1. David's fulfillment was not the result of empty activity performed out of obligation.

  2. David was fully satisfied because he met with God.

Follow-up is very crucial for every new and existing believer to grow deeper in intimacy with Christ. Follow-up is part of the discipleship process, helping the person become a disciple of Jesus.

Movement

How are we going to follow up?

  • Apply 3/3 Process in handling Follow Up.
    Watch these videos:

· Three-thirds Process

· Follow-up Lessons (New Lesson Part of Three-thirds)

  • Pray for follow-up contacts/disciples regularly

The First Follow-up Appointment
(Look Up part of the 3/3 Process)

A. Have a clear objective for this appointment.
Only God brings assurance of salvation. But we can help new believers put their trust in God's Word. As you go through Follow-up Lesson #1, make sure that the new Christian has the assurance of Christ's indwelling presence. Ask the questions from the lesson, listen, evaluate and clarify answers until the new Christian understands. Remember, your objective is not just to cover the content of the lesson, but to help the new believer understand biblical principles.

B. Follow these principles.
Several principles to remember as you begin a follow-up appointment are: be enthusiastic, be a friend and seek to create a desire in the new believer to grow in Christ.

C. Build rapport.
It is important to establish rapport during the first few minutes of the appointment. Ask how things have gone since you last met. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you sensitivity to the needs of your new friend. As needs are expressed, share your own experiences and answers from God's Word. Tell how God has worked in your life.

D. Ask if the person has:
1. Read the Four Spiritual Laws booklet.
2. Thanked Christ for coming into his life.
3. Read John 1-3 (if you asked him to do so).
4. Any questions.

E. Go through Follow-up Lesson #1.

How to Close the Follow-up Appointment

A. Be relaxed but attentive to the person's needs.
1. Be aware of the time. If the person has other obligations to keep, cut the time short.
2. The new believer will probably be more open to talk about personal problems and interests now than before the lesson. Be open and ready. Do not hurry away if the person wants to take more time.

B. Let the new believer know that you enjoyed your time together.

C. Communicate your desire to meet again to talk more about God and the Christian life.

D. Set a specific time and place for the next succeeding appointments for Follow-Up 2 and so on.

E. Give reading assignment — Transferrable Concepts (TCs) every after Follow-Up meeting.

Train disciples to win-build-send

Heart

Why Send?

Why send your disciples to do the same — win-build-send?

It would be good to clarify what it means to be committed to God's command to help reach the world through making disciples of others.

I. Jesus Calls Us to Serve Him as His Disciples:

A. By loving and serving others (John 13:31-35).

John 13:31-35, "When he was gone, Jesus said, "Now is the Son of Man glorified and God is glorified in Him.

If God is glorified in Him, God will glorify the Son in Himself, and will glorify Him at once. My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for Me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come. A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples."

B. By the obedient application of His Word to our lives (John 14:23,24).

John 14:23,24, "Jesus replied, "If anyone loves Me, he will obey My teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love Me will not obey My teaching. These words you hear are not My own; they belong to the Father who sent Me."

C. By fishing for men (Matthew 4:19).

Matthew 4:19, "Come, follow Me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."

D. By praying according to His will (John 15:7).

E. By depending moment by moment on the enabling power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8; Romans 8:12-15).

F. By suffering with and for Him (Philippians 1:29-30).

II. Jesus Calls Us to Make Disciples of Others

(Matthew 28:18-20; Colossians 1:28,29).

Matthew 28:18-20, "Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. And teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'"

Colossians 1:28,29, "We proclaim Him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. To this end I labor, struggling with all His energy, which so powerfully works in me."

Summary:

  1. God calls us to minister in the authority and power of Jesus.

  2. God commands us to make disciples because it is His strategy for reaching the world.

  3. God's heart is that the entire world hear about Jesus.

  4. As Jesus' disciples we are called to a ministry of both evangelism and discipleship.

  5. We can be sure that our hard work in the power of the Spirit will be blessed by Jesus.
